There are two main catagories of up and over doors, canopy and retractable. Features of Canopy Doors
  • Most simple and common type of door.
  • Maximum drive-through width when open.
  • Easiest door type to install.
  • When fully open the door panel protrudes about a third forward of the sub frame.
Features of Retractable Doors
  • Simple and easy installation.
  • Slightly reduced drive-through width when open.
  • Easiest retro-fitting of remote control system.
  • When open the door panel retracts fully into the garage frame.

Sectional Doors

Features of Sectional Doors
  • The entire door rises vertically upwards and then backwards into the ceiling space.
  • No door frame is required which increases the available drive-through width.
  • A small amount of clear space around the opening for the door is required to attach the mechanism.
  • Good security and good protection against the weather with sealing all around the door.
  • Available with out without insulation.
  • Generally manufactured in steel although some specialist timber versions are available.

Roller Doors

Features of Roller Doors
  • The entire door rises vertically upwards and then rolls up on a spindle in the ceiling space.
  • No door frame is required which increases the available drive-through width.
  • Good security and good protection against the weather with sealing all around the door.
  • Available with out without insulation.
  • Manual and electric versions are available and Installation is straight-forward.
  • Requires a small amount of clear brickwork to the sides and between 450 and 205mm ceiling clearance above the underside of the lintel.
  • Roller doors are either manufactured in Steel or Aluminium and are either single sheet or hinged slat.
